The Phone Number Shown on Squid Game Was Real, and Squid Game Viewers Have Called The Number

As Squid Game has been a major success, a certain phone number's owner, have been receiving calls from the fans of the drama.

Remember that scene where the recruiter (Gong Yoo) gives Gi Hun a business card, when he asked him to join the Squid Game. The game is about 456 people in debt vie to win the 45.6B won pot money in the games.

The business card shown has an actual phone number written on it, which interested contestants can call in case they decide to join. The thing is, it is a real phone number. And people have been calling and sending texts to this number after watching the drama.

The owner said,
I have been receiving endless calls and text messages. I have been using this number for more than 10 years, so I am quite taken aback.

Some 4,000 phone calls come in every day. I did not even realize what was going on as I did not watch the series. Someone who prank called me told me that the number was featured on the show.

Similarly, another person with a number very similar to the one shown on the show  has also been getting prank calls.

The number on the game is very similar to mine. People are calling my number, mistakenly thinking that it is the number on the show. To the director of the show -- please reach out to me. This is so upsetting.

Netflix Korea says that they are looking into the matter and they are trying to contact the alleged victims of the calls.

The number appeared on episodes 1 and 2, around the 23:44 mark on episode 1.
