Snowdrop Will Continue to Be Aired

On December 29, the court has rejected the application to ban the screening of the drama, Snowdrop.

The CivilSettlement Division 21, with Chief Judge Park Byung Tae of the Seoul Western District Court announced the rejection for the application for an injunction to stop the screening of Snowdrop raised by the Global Citizenship Declaration against JTBC Studios.

The court said,
Unless the content of the drama directly targets the civic group, it is difficult to see if the personal rights are infringed by the broadcasting of the drama.
Even if the content of the drama is based on a distorted view of history, such as the claims of the creditors, it is hard to believe that the public will blindly accept these contents as fact. This was done on grounds that there is a risk of their personal rights being violated.

The drama is set in 1987 in Seoul, where a college student hides someone in their dormitory.

ICYMI: JTBC'S STATEMENT ON SNOWDROP CONTROVERSY

The drama has been embroiled in various controversies even before it was aired, including the democratization movements and beautifying the positions of the Ministry of National Security Planning.

The Blue House has not yet responded to the national petition filed against the drama, as they are required to respond once a petition surpasses 200,000 signatures. The public is still waiting decision on that.
