Business Proposal is Full of Clichés, But Viewers Are Loving It
Business Proposal is on a roll, consistently trending every episode and ratings are consistently going up. With its latest episode reaching the double digit range.
The rom com drama premiered with 4.9% rating, but after 3 weeks, it has reached 10.1%.
But why do viewers love the drama when its so full of clichés that we see in every rom com out there? And recently, the interest in this genre is slightly declining, so what makes Business Proposal different?
As seen on a recent online community, Business Proposal is showing that the obvious KDrama clichés can be done in a "right way", where viewers can't help but smile every time they watch even if the same old story they've seen somewhere before.
The main story of the drama is a cliche in itself. A handsome, successful CEO goes on a blind date set up by his grandfather. But the girl he was supposed to meet does not want to and ask his friend to go in her place. The two start a fake relationship, complete with contract to make his grandfather believe that he is indeed getting married. As expected, they will develop feelings for each other.
Even the second lead couple, also full of clichés are loved by the audience. As many believe that the story is fast paced, no irritating plot circles, the chemistry of the leads are very good and the OST is well-made.
Some comments are:
It's so cliché and you know everything that's gonna happen but for some reason it's still so heart-fluttering!!
This literally has all of the clichés that you'd expect a chaebol K-drama romance to have, and it's almost like a really well-made parody. I feel like I'm watching a variety show.
This is the most well-written cliché ever. They say that the taste you crave the most is the one you've known the longest, and that is so true.
It's one of those things you started watching while eating because it looked light, but by now we're all smiling like idiots and waiting for Mondays.
This is so funny and heart-fluttering. I literally clap and laugh out loud while I'm watching it.Viewership ratings never lie. I never thought I'd be waiting for Mondays.
It's so cheesy and cliché so why am I watching it so intensely.
When I started watching it I was like, 'What is this extreme cliché?' But I sat there for a little bit and then the episode was over and I was like, 'I want to watch more'
You can totally empty your head and just watch and laugh out loud, and swoon a little too. It's so good.
