Son Suk Ku Fun Facts We Ought To Know From the Our Liberations Notes' Mr. Gu

My Liberation Notes has come to an end. But countless fans can't get enough of Son Suk Ku, who played Mr. Gu in the drama. He's been in other dramas before, but his role in the slow paced life drama made a big impact to viewers.

Here are a few fun facts about Son Suk Ku.

1. In an episode of My Little Old Boy last year revealed that he was so shy as a child that his parents sent him to Canada to overcome his shyness. It was so severe that it felt like an illness. He said that he goes straight home after school. And once, when his parents took him to a department store, he did not say a single word until they got back home.

2. He studied an the School of the Art Institute in Chicago. The actor wanted to study visual arts and film to become a director someday. But after a while, he realized it was not for him and he decided to travel to Iraq to fulfill military duties.

3. He plays basketball. In an interview, he mentioned that he plays the game during downtime while in the military. After discharged, he also dreamed of becoming a basketball player. And while living in Canada, he practiced basketball while attending acting school during his free time.

4. After 10 years of living abroad, he went back to Korea to pursue acting. He started out acting in plays in Daejeon. He then joined the Seoul University choir. And with the help of colleagues, he started building on his resume to send to casting agencies. His first big role, was Detective Mun in Sense 8.

5. His directorial debut was for the Unframed project. Lee Je Hoon, a friend of his approached him with the idea, a series of short films with different directors. And Son decided he wants to direct a film for the project.

His film was called "Rebroadcast" and stars Lim Seong Jae and Byun Joong Hee.

6. He is very fluent in English. This is because of his years abroad, studying in Chicago and Canada. He was able to use this talent in the Sense 8 and the Korean remake of the drama Suits.

7. He used to be a CEO for a distribution company called GOMT, a machine tool manufacturing company. But decided to focus on his acting career instead.

8. He has just finished on the drama My Liberation Notes and starring in the hit movie, The Outlaws 2 with Ma Dong Seok.
