Meet the Model for Woo Young Woo's Character in Extraordinary Attorney Woo
The model for Park Eun Bin's character, Woo Young Woo, has been revealed.
On July 24, it was reported that the model for the character of Attorney Woo Young Woo was Temple Grandin, a Professor at the Colorado State University in the USA, and a world renowned zoologist. She was diagnosed with autism at age 2.
When she was diagnosed, the doctor told her she will be in a shelter for the rest of her life and it will be difficult to speak. But they were wrong. As Grandin put her talents to good use in the field of animal research. She built facilities designed to ease the suffering of famr animals and have been introduced on 60% of farms in North AMerica,
Temple Grandin was also selected as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by Time Magazine in 2010 because of such acievements.
Grandin's life was made into books and movies in the USA. While stage plays showcasing her life has been on stage in Korea since 2019.
On February 2013, she took to the TED Podium and gave a lecture on "a world that requires all kinds of thinking". Autistic thinking, when focused on details that most people ignore, changes the world.
Professor Kim Byung Gun, a Professor of early childhood special education at Nazarene University, and an adviser for Extraordinary Attorney Woo said,
There are problems with empathy and communication, but we will focus on the high concentration, that is, the strengths of some people with autism spectrum disorders in certain fields. I wanted to break the stereotyped autistic person who lacks or only gets help by approaching them.
So when Young Woo's character was made, writer Moon Ji Won made her three-dimensional, where Young Woo revealed her autistic tendencies on her daily life and showed her intelligence when she argues and defends.
