Choi Hyun Wook Apologizes to Fans

Choi Hyun Wook was involved in a recent controversy regarding his improper disposal of cigarette butts in a public street.


A netizen uploaded a video of the actor holding a woman's hand while smoking a cigarette, afterwhich he tossed the cigarette butt on the street where cars were parked which sparked backlash.

On October 5, he wrote a letter of apology to fans through his agency, Gold Medalist.
Hello, this is Choi Hyun Wook.

First, I would like to express my apologies to the fans for causing disappointment. Despite the need to be responsible at all times, I have disappointed many people with my reckless actions.

I apologize once again to the drama director, writer, staff, fellow actors, and everyone I am working with. I will humbly accept the criticism and advice that you have given me, and I will reflect on myself and work hard to show a more mature side of myself in the future.

 The production team of ''When the Phone Rings' has apologized for a sign language scene from the first episode. In the first episode, aired on November 22, sign language interpreter Hong Hee Joo (played by Chae Soo Bin) is interpreting for a news program. Because of a transmission error during the live broadcast, the program suddenly freezes on Hong Hee Joo signing the word for “mountain,” but was mistakenly interpreted as an obscene hand gesture.
