The Wonderful Pain that's Doona, A Review

Doona has got to be one of the most heartbreaking series I've seen in a while. But it's a good kind of pain, something that will make you smile along the way.

You can only speculate what happened to them after admitting their feelings years after they separated. But for me, it does not matter. The journey of their love story is so wonderful, hindi minadali, their foundation was strong that's why even if they "let go" they actually didn't.

But what's good and very evident, they were good for each other. Doona was a much better person because of Wonjun. And Wonjun learned how to be stronger because of Doona. They completed each other. They were fitted for each other.

Many may not like this ending, but it was perfect for me. It was realistic. It was so true to what we see in real life, it will linger in your mind and your heart. The angst of falling in love and finding your true self, accepting what was inevitable and still come out a better person, this was what Doona is all about. I might say it has a bittersweet ending. We do not always end up with that one person even if they have been such a huge part of our lives, even if at one point we loved each other so much.

They met at their lowest, she under seclusion after the tragedy of her last performance and he with nothing but his guts and will to succeed despite leaving his family behind. But they were destined to meet, I think. They found solace in each other. And along the process, they found happiness, and love. Love not just from each other, but for themselves and the people around them.

Is it a happy ending? It is, even if not in the usual happy ending that we are used to. Sometimes, it just means protecting the memories of the person we love in our hearts. You see, in Doona, we realize that you cannot save other people. You can love them so much; you can try to save them from themselves. But eventually, you learn that they should learn to suvive on their own. Wonjun and Doona's relationship is exactly like this - in the end, Doona was finally able to save herself. But she was able to do so because she had Wonjun with her. All throughout those years that they were separated, he was with him. And she was able to live because of him.

Doona is a so good. It will make you fall in love and feel the joy and pain that comes with it. It will make you realize that you need to love yourself first but also accept the love that comes from others.
