Who's Excited for Kim Seon Ho's New Drama, The Tyrant? Here's to Understand the Series Before it Starts

 August 14 cannot come soon enough! We are excited for the new Kim Seon Ho drama, The Tyrant, and here's a little insight into the new Disney Plus series.

Synopsis

After years of seeing their country be suppressed by foreign powers, a group of rogue scientists
working within the South Korean government begin to a develop a virus that will put their country on a
level playing field with the world’s most powerful nations. Referred to as “The Tyrant Project”,the
virus holds limitless potential for the advancement of humanity.

However, before the project can be finalized, a group of US agents uncover the plan and demand
that all samples be handed over. Unwilling to kowtow and give up his research to the Americans, the group’s leader hires a black ops team to recover his work, but when things go south
during the attack, parties on both sides will be left scrambling to recover the virus and use it to
advance their own ends.

Series Overview

1. DELIVERY ACCIDENT
After a surprise raid on his lab, Director Choe recruits a black ops team to recover a
sample of the confiscated project referred to as “The Tyrant”. However, the mission
doesn’t go according to plan.

Government agents continue to monitor Director Choe, convinced he’s responsible
for the attack on the handover. Meanwhile, rumors of a horrific encounter in a rural
village lead a reporter to investigate.

Chae Jagyoung and the assassin once again cross paths. The US agents led by Paul
reveal they’re not quite what they seem as they apprehend Director Choe and uncover
his base of operations.

Cast

Lim Sang played by Cha Seung Won

A highly skilled former assassin, Lim Sang is brought out of retirement to tie up loose
ends. Ruthlessly efficient, cold-blooded and methodical, Lim Sang does whatever it takes to
accomplish his mission and track down anyone who played a part in the failed handover.
Director Choe played by Kim Seon Ho

A member of South Korea’s most elite inner-circle, Director Choe is an extremist
patriot determined to unleash his country’s true potential. Working for years in secret to
develop The Tyrant, Choe refuses to once again be put down by the US and resolves to
keep working on his project, no matter the cost.
Paul played by Kim Kang Woo

A US intelligence agent, Paul hovers on the outskirts, delegating the operational side of
the mission to his Korean counterparts. However, once they fail to secure the virus,
Paul and his team of uniquely qualified agents will swoop in and attempt to clean up
the mess the South Korean government have made.
Chae Jagyoung played by Jo Yoonsu

The daughter of a highly skilled assassin, Chae Jagyoung grew up with dissociative
identity disorder, giving her both her own personality and that of a protective twin
brother. Initially hoping to retire and open a pub in Southeast Asia, Jagyoung spirals down
a path of revenge when a series of events almost costs her her life.
