Can You Imagine Squid Game Without Wi Ha Joon's Character?
Squid Game has taken the world by storm. We were witnesses to how the story unfolded as we watched. And we fell in love with the characters and their portrayal of their roles, whether good or bad. One of those characters is Officer Hwang Jun Ho, played by Wi Ha Joon. And originally, he was not even part of the story!
This was revealed in a recent interview with Netflix Korea. Director Hwang Dong Hyuk said that Hwang Jun Ho wasn't in the original script as it was intended to be a movie.
When I was originally writing the movie script, Jun Ho wasn’t there. Two hours wasn’t enough to even cover all the games. But when it was turned into a series, we were able to add more stories to the plot.
It was all thanks to Netflix that Jun Ho was added and he became a crucial part of the story. He was a character that sees the essence of the game.
Through his human eyes, he shows us the world of the pink masked men and the people beyond the game that are controlling them as well.
It's hard to imagine Squid Game without Wi Ha Joon.
He has been in numerous movies and dramas, including his most recent, Midnight and 18 Again, but Squid Game is a whole new level as it made him even more popular!
