South Korean Celebrities Involved In Big Controversies in 2021

 Aside from the recent scandal involving rising star Kim Seon Ho, there are other celebrities embroiled in scandals this year. And most of them are still lying low and have not gone back to the spotlight yet.



SEO YE JI

Seo Ye Ji's performance in the hit drama It's Okay To Not be Okay was applauded. But a few months later, reports of bullying, staff abuse and the "manipulation" of ex-boyfriend Kim Jung Hyun came out. She was replaced from the drama Island and her endorsements suffered as well.


JISOO

Jisoo was accused of bullying and sexual harrassment. He has to step down from the drama River Where The Moon Rises while it was running and was replaced by Na In Woo. According to reports, the drama company sued him and his agency for damages.


APRIL's Naeun

She was accused of school bullying and also of bullying a classmate. With this, she had to leave Taxi Driver and her replacement had to reshoot all her scenes.

JO BYUNG GYU

Right after the success of The Uncanny Counter, bullying allegations came out. Although the accuser has issued an apology, the actor says in an SNS post that his projects have been put on hold and his 10-year career has collapsed.


PARK HYE SOO

 Park Hye Soo was part of the drama Dear M when the school bullying issue cam out. A former classmate claims that she bullies and takes money from kids. The drama's release was postponed and netizens petitioned for her to be removed from the series.



NCT Lucas

A few months ago, NCT Lucas was involved in a scandal with various women on accounts of gaslighting and money extortion. He offered and apology and fans have debunked all the accusations with proofs. But his activities with WayV were halted following the allegations.

On January 15, Dispatch revealed that the actress received money from her ex-boyfriend, Kang Jong Hyun, during their relationship. According to Dispatch, Park Min Young had received ₩250 million KRW (about $190,000 USD) from Kang Jong Hyun. Kang has alleged ties to gangsters, and is currently facing embezzlement accusations worth ₩60.0 billion KRW (about $45.7 million USD) from Bithumb, one of Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges.
