Im Soo Hyang Jane The Virgin Remake Confirmed for May Premier Despite Scheduling Issue With Her MBC Drama
It is confirmed that the Jane the Virgin remake, Starting Today, We (literal translation) will premier this May as announced previously.
Earlier, it was reported by JTBC News that MBC and SBS are in dispute due to SBS' plan to air the actress' drama, Starting Today, We, in May when MBC is also planning to air her drama, Mr. Lawyer, on the same month.
An MBC representative stated,
Even when taking into consideration the unfortunate programming situation at SBS, their decision is still a breach of business ethics as it would be inconvenient and damaging to promote both shows at the same time.
However, a source from SBS responded,
As the days of the week and time slots in which the drama will air are different and because the subject matter of the two dramas is completely different as well, we do not think there will be any problems.
Dr. Lawyer, which also stars So Ji Sub, is about a surgeon who becomes a malpractice lawyer after a rigged surgery; and a prosecutor who loses her only family and lover because of the same surgery. It is scheduled to premier on may 27.
On the other hand, Starting Today, We, is a Korean remake of the American series Jane the Virgin, based on a Venezuelan telenovela. It tells the story of a woman preserving her chastity before marriage but ended up being pregnant after an accident that occurs during a medical exam. it also stars Sung Hoon.Starting Today, We will premier earlier on May 9.___________________
