Squid Game Makes History at the 2022 Emmy Awards
Congratulations Squid Game for making history at the Emmy Awards. Not only is the drama the first non-English nominee, it also received 14 nominations!
On July 12, the Emmy Awards nominees were announced. And Squid Game received a whopping 14 nominations including major acting awards.
Squid Game is the first non-English nominee for the Best Drama category to go up against English shows "Better Call Saul,” “Euphoria,” “Ozark,” “Severance,” “Stranger Things,” “Succession,” and “Yellowjackets.”
In addition, 5 of the stars were nominated for the acting categories, making them the first Korean actors in history to earn the said nominations. Lee Jung Jae for Lead Actor in a Drama Series
Jung Ho Yeon for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Park Hae Soo and Oh Young Su for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series
Lee Yu Mi for Guest Actress in a Drama Series
Hwang Dong Hyuk is also the first Korean to be nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.

Other nominations are Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary Program (One Hour or More), Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series (One Hour), Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series, Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music, Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode, and Outstanding Stunt Performance.
