A Time Called You - A Timeless Masterpiece

A Time Called You, watch it and feel the roller coaster of emotions that is called "love".

As I always mention, this drama is a masterpiece in its own right. It may have been a remake, but it was wonderfully written, true to the original.

Cinematography is beautiful, the contrast between the 80s to the 90s to 2023 was done magnificently, it was very easy to distinguish which era you are watching.

The time travel plot may be confusing sometimes. But if you really pay attention, it's easy to understand. Although there was a part of the 2nd half where it was harder to understand. I just repeated the episode, and the plot became clearer.

This kind of love in KDrama is very wonderful. The jittery feeling of first love, the comfort of mature love, the overwhelming pain of separating from the love of your life and the bittersweet feel of being united again.

The main leads gave wonderful performances. Jeon Yeo Been's transition from introvert to extrovert and back was so smooth. The way she talks and the way she moves, her emotions, you can easily distinguish Minju from Junhee. There was even a part where she was playing Minju trying to be Junhee. And you even see the difference.

Ahn Hyo Seop gave out a wonderful performance as Yeonjun / Siheon. A green flag indeed. A good friend, a good partner, a good boyfriend. His portrayal of a lover who's yearning for his love in different times, gave me goosebumps everytime. Be it in high school, college and in the present, oh he gave that beautiful portrayal of someone who will love you wherever and whenever.

Kang Hoon was a surprise for me. He was that introvert friend in love with Minju. He has not much conversation, but his eyes. You see his love and longing in his eyes. Whatever emotions he has to portray, you see it in his eyes first.

The ending was achingly beautiful. That feeling of relief that finally they were able to meet at Siheon and Junhee in this lifetime, without manipulation from the past, just makes you hopeful that everything will be better. But it was sad at the same time knowing that all the precious memories made from various experiences in different timelines are just gone forever.

This drama will stay with you even after you finish it. It lingers, the pain, the butterflies, the happiness, all the emotions packed in 12 episodes. Don't forget the OST especially Seo Ji Won's Gather My Tears, just tugs at the heartstrings.

Magnificent. A must-watch.
