 Queen of Tears is possibly the current hottest airing KDrama. Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won, the supporting cast and the story make the series so loved by viewers.



Just look at the drama's soaring rating. With 4 more episodes to go (and 2 specials after that), the drama may even overtake Crash Landing on You as the highest rated tvN drama in history. 


With 2 more weeks to go, Screen Rant listed the top 15 best scenes so far (with my own take on the scenes).

15. The return of Vincenzo - episode 8

This Song Joong Ki cameo was much anticipated. The actor's cameo was actually as Hong Hae In's divorce lawyer, Vincenzo Cassano, from his hit drama, Vincenzo. What's so wonderful in this cameo was when all his previous roles have been mentioned, just to show how fierce he really is as a lawyer. 

14. When Hae In overhears Hyunwoo's drunken confession - episode 10

This was such a wonderful confession, without any inhibition, just saying how he truly feels. The best part is, Hae In heard everything. Confirming how they both still truly love each other.

13. When Haein considers Hyunwoo's proposal - episode 12

This was truly wonderful to watch. After rejecting Hyunwoo's proposal (and making us cry), Haein tries on the ring just when Hyunwoo enters the room. It was so fun watching her make a double take on whether to inform Hyunwoo that she tried on the ring or not, and when she finally did, Hyunwoo's playful reaction was enough for her to punch and scream on her pillow like a teenager in love. 

12. Haein treats Hyunwoo's wounds - episode 10

Hyunwoo had a run-in with Eunsung's henchmen and of course, you expect bruises and wounds. This is so cute, as just when they have divorced, we see them in moments like this. Just this alone, we see how they long for each other, how much they care for each other. We see the walls they put up for years start to come down little by little. 

11. Hyunwoo protects Haein from a raging boar during the family hunting activity - episode 2

This is early on in the series. In this episode, we see Haein's illness starting to show. Although he mentions wanting a divorce, this is one of the scenes where we see his true feelings surface. He boldly goes in front of Haein and shoots the boar outright, even if he doesn't want using his gun. 

10. When Hyunwoo deletes a text in Haein's phone - episode 3

Hyunwoo accidentally sent a text. Haein, drunk and phone turned off, hasn't read it yet so he has a chance to erase it. What's so good here is that the desperation in Hyunwoo was so evident he'll do anything to erase that text, he was in panic while Haein has no idea what he wants to accomplish. It was funny in a very intimate way. Also, we discover something here while Hyunwoo was trying to open Haein's phone (it made me tear up).

9. When Hae In thought Eunsung was Hyunwoo - episode 11

This scene was built slowly, you will just realize the truth later on. The impact was so great that the realization will make you stunned. Right after seeing Hyunwoo come out of the car chasing them, will you recall all the little different things, that seem wrong. And Haein's emotional reveal was so powerful you feel it, too.

8. When Haein finds out about the divorce - episode 6

 There was a time I though everything will be alright, since they were having a great time in Germany. And it seem so, until Haein finds out the truth. What's good in this scene are the events leading up to the heartbreak. Just when everything is coming up roses, pain happens. We see how great Kim Jiwon and Kim Soohyun here, without much dialog, the transition from pure happiness to feeling of betrayal and pain are so apparent. 

7. When Soocheol tries to find his family - episode 8

Soocheol may be the funny one in the drama, but when his family left and he tries to find them, riding on a bicycle, you see his devastation and despair as a father. He is a family man. He's willing to learn to ride a bike so he could teach his son later on. Watching him shakily riding that bicycle, crying and in pain is simply heartbreaking. 
 

6. When Hae In woke up and expresses her true feelings - episode 11

When Hae in was always cold and calculating, she decided to open up and express her love for Hyunwoo and even to her family. It's wonderful seeing her finally showing her true feelings. And Hyunwoo just being there listening and validating her. 


5. The "I'm cute when I'm drunk" Hyunwoo - episode 1

This scene was so funny and cute at the same time. His fears and his emotions may be exaggerated, but it also shows how desperate he is to get out of his current situation. What's more entertaining is his subtle homage to Kim Ji-won's portrayal of Choi Ae-ra in Fight For My Way here.

4. When Hae In reveals her secret to the public - episode 10

Her revelation after making Eunsung believe she will return was a masterpiece. It was unexpected to say the least. She did not even flinch when she had to reveal her illness to the public. It was so satisfyingly good seeing Eunsung's reaction. Same with Hyunwoo's. That gaze made us believe that they have overcome one of the greatest difficulties as of the present, that includes their relationship.

3. Haein forgets about their recent trip to Germany - episode 7

Oh this was heartbreaking to watch. Seeing Haein manifest her disease by forgetting about Germany, even about the divorce was painful. She was so innocent, while Hyunwoo's confusion makes this scene so emotional. That contrast in their current state makes us realize just how serious her disease already is.

2. When Hyunwoo found Haein after she goes missing - episode 4

Hyunwoo was so mad because of worry and Haein's panic that she tries to hide make this scene so raw with emotions. But Haein's change of heart after seeing Hyunwoo's sweat and rain-soaked clothes made her finally open up. Her fear of the situation was so overwhelming that she decides to reveal her fear. And Hyunwoo reciprocated with the same sense of relief of finally finding her. 

 

1. When Haein and Hyunwoo reunite in Germany - episode 5

This was so beautiful. This was when they start to let their guards down, where they show their true feelings, reconciling after months of uncertainty. The overwhelming emotion when the two embraced was so powerful and heartwarming. No words spoken, just their actions give you the confirmation that they really do still love each other.
 

There would be more notable scenes we're expecting after all the episodes commences. I'm excited for these. Who else?
