Queen of Tears' Baek Hyun Woo and Hong Hae In Relationship Timeline

 Most of us still can't get over Queen of Tears as the drama aired its final episode on April 28.

To help us in moving on, let's look back at the episodes and check the timeline of Hyunwoo and Haein's relationship. As we all know, they were fated to be together, from childhood even to their death. Theirs was full of struggles and sacrifices, tears, pain and love. But despite all these humps, they were able to find their way back to each other.

What the writer did was to look into Hyunwoo and Haein's past, present and future through flashbacks alongside the present times. This made the viewers look into their fate and believe how they were really meant to be together from the beginning, how their lives were intertwined since before they thought they knew each other,

Here's their relationship if we look at the timeline from the beginning according to Screenrant.

Hyunwoo saves Haein from the boating accident


Episode 6 - Haein was saved by a mystery figure, but her brother doesn't make it, which made her                             mother resent her.
Episode 12 - A boy in a red t-shirt saves Haein, looking just like the picture from Jeon Bong-ae's photo                     album. She mentions that Hyunwoo saved a girl from drowning before.
Episode 16 - It is revealed that it was Hyunwoo who saved Haein and not Eunsung.

Haein and Hyunwoo met in high school just when she was about to transfer

Episode 4 - Hae-in falls and drops her music player. She is comforted by Hyunwoo who keeps the                             music player. This is the 2nd chance meeting the two had. It was his 1st day in high                                school while it was her last before studying in the US.

Hyunwoo and Haein met as interns where they fell in love

Episode 1 - Hae-in kicks a photocopier, and Hyunwoo comes to help.
Episode 1 - Hyunwoo confesses his feelings for Haein not knowing that she is the heir of Queens                             group.
Episode 6 - Haein follows Hyunwoo on the bus home.

Episode 5 -  Miseon tries to get Haein to break up with Hyunwoo.

Haein and Hyunwoo gets married

Episode 8 - Hyunwoo proposes to Hae-in.
Episode 16 - Haein says yes  Hyunwoo's proposal but warns him that her family is very different from                        his.
Episode 1 - Haein goes to find Hyunwoo in Yongduri after he finds out who she really is.
Episode 1 - Hyunwoo and Haein gets married.
Episode 3 - Haein and Hyunwoo goes to Germany for their honeymoon and visits Sanssouci.
Episode 14 - Haein sees an elderly man place flowers on his wife's grave.

Haein gets pregnant but eventually loses the baby

Episode 4 - Haein and Hyunwoo find out they are expecting their first baby.
Episode 5 - Haein has a miscarriage. Hyunwoo moves into the baby's old nursery.

Hyunwoo wants a divorce but finds out Haein is ill

Before episode 1 - Hae-in writes a will before her marriage to Hyun-woo, which leaves him with                                     nothing.
Episode 2 - Hae-in is diagnosed with Cloud Cytoma.
Episode 1 - Hyun-woo prepares to divorce Hae-in, but finds out she's dying.
Episode 2 - Hyun-woo decides to treat Hae-in better, hoping it will influence her to change her will.
Episode 2 - Hyun-woo saves Hae-in from a boar.

Episode 3 -  Mi-sun and Hyun-tae try to convince Hae-in not to divorce Hyun-woo. 

Episode 3 - Hae-in kisses Hyun-woo as he tries to delete Mi-sun's message from her phone.

Episode 4 - Hae-in goes missing in Yongdu-ri.

At this point, we see how distant they really are with each other caused by the loss of their child. The pain they're feeling are so raw you can feel it and you see how they really yearn for each other despite all these.

Haein gets treated in Germany where they reconcile

Episode 5 - Hae-in goes to Germany alone to get experimental treatment for her illness but due to low                     WBC count, is rejected from the trial.
Episode 5 - Hyun-woo finds Hae-in at Sanssouci and they reconcile.

Episode 6 - Hae-in tells Hyun-woo she intends to revise her will, revealing that she only wrote it to                             get her mother's blessing to get married to Hyunwoo.

Episode 6 - Hyun-woo visits the clinic in Germany to convince them to give Hae-in further treatment. 

Haein and Hyunwoo gets divorced


Episode 6 - Hae-in discovers that Hyun-woo intended to divorce her.

Episode 7 -  Hyun-woo lets Hae-in hate him so that she has a reason to keep living.

Episode 7 - Hae-in forgets everything that happened in Germany.

Episode 8 - Hae-in and Hyun-woo get divorced.

Episode 9 - Hyun-woo helps the Hong family escape to Yongdu-ri

Hyunwoo asks Haein to withdraw the divorce

Episode 10 - Hae-in and Hyun-woo discuss the kinds of people they could have met if they hadn't                             married one another.
Episode 10 - Hae-in reveals her illness to the public and faints at a press conference.

Episode 11 -  Hae-in tells Hyun-woo she has always loved him.

Episode 12 -  Hyun-woo re-proposes to Hae-in, but she rejects him.

 

Episode 13 -  Hae-in begins wearing the ring Hyun-woo gave to her.

Haein undergoes surgery and forgets Hyunwoo

Episode 13 - Hae-in finds out she can get surgery in Germany.
Episode 13 - While in Germany, Hyun-woo tells Hae-in that she will lose her memories if she gets the                     surgery.

Episode 14 - Hae-in refuses surgery.

Episode 14 - Hyun-woo thought Hae-in almost died in a car crash, this made Hae-in change her                                 mind.

Episode 14 - Hae-in receives surgery and  Hyun-woo is arrested.

Hyunwoo sacrifices himself for Haein and she finally remembers him


Episode 15 - Hae-in regains some of her memories after reading her journal.

Episode 15 - Yoon Eun-sung kidnaps Hae-in and injures Hyun-woo in a hit-and-run.

Episode 16 - Hyun-woo helps Hae-in escape from Eun-sung but is shot.

Haein and Hyunwoo remarries and have a daughter

Episode 16 - Hae-in and Hyun-woo start dating again, remarries and have a daughter. They visit                                 Germany as a family.

Haein dies first and waits for Hyunwoo

Episode 16 - Hae-in dies in 2074. Hyuwoo visits Sanssouci alone and visits her grave.
Episode 16 - Hyun-woo dies and joins Hae-in in the afterlife.

Haein predicted on episode 6 that she will die first. She did at the age of 84, surpassing the 3 months given to her by her doctor at the start of the drama. She also promised Hyunwoo that she will wait for him in the afterlife, when she passes first.

This was a perfect ending for Haein and Hyunwoo's fated relationship. Their journey was full of heartbreaks and unexpected turns, but in the end, they ended together, as fate would have it. Even after death.

 Queen of Tears had a very good start. A promising rating and a very interesting premise. Read how Queen of Tears saw a significant rise in rating for second episode First of, I was thinking, why was the title Queen of Tears? After the second episode, I think I have an idea. Hong Hae In has always had a cold, strong demeanor. And she never shows any emotion at all. I don't think she ever shed a tear (well, we're still on episode 2, so who knows?) but her circumstances are so tragic, its quite tearful for our female lead. Her own mother can't stand her and blames her for her sibling's death. I'm pretty sure this death gave her trauma. Her family hates her guts and is quite a stressful bunch. She has an incurable disease. And the biggest sadness of it all? Her husband, who she thought wants her to live, actually hopes for the opposite. When The Phone Rings Production Team Apologizes for Controversial Scene

 The production team of ''When the Phone Rings' has apologized for a sign language scene from the first episode. In the first episode, aired on November 22, sign language interpreter Hong Hee Joo (played by Chae Soo Bin) is interpreting for a news program. Because of a transmission error during the live broadcast, the program suddenly freezes on Hong Hee Joo signing the word for “mountain,” but was mistakenly interpreted as an obscene hand gesture.
