My Sweet Mobster is the Sweet Break We All Need, a Review

My Sweet Mobster is just like the title, sweet but quite chaotic on the side.

It's the story of Seo Ji Hwan, a former mobster who only employs ex-convicts to help them change their lives; and Go Eun Ha, a struggling yet very passionate YouTuber who loves kids.

It's one of our favorite KDrama tropes, where the bad boy falls for the sweet girl, but this just gives it a new spin. It's cliche, how these anti-heroes just turn mellow in front of their lady loves, but the pleasure of watching how they transform really is the heart of this series.

When Ji Hwan and Eun Ha's path crosses, this is when the fun starts. Opposites really do attract. But we see how Jihwan tries so hard to win over Eunha and their delightful, fluttery encounters makes us blush as well.

The tough gangster, who is really a softie inside, makes ways to bring Eunha closer to him. And that's how our dear prosecutor comes in the picture, Jang Hyun Woo. He believes that Ji Hwan is so dangerous that he makes ways for her to be as far away from him as possible.

The drama does not just focus on the romance, but on some social issues as well. How the population generally sees ex-convicts, how they are not given second chances even if they have already changed, and has been reformed.

Now, after 7 episodes, we see the different developments in the characters. We know Eunha had a childhood friend whom she's been thinking of. And in the latest episode, this has already been revealed. How will this change the trajectory of her relationship with Ji Hwan? How will Hyeon Woo enter the picture?

In general, this drama is so sweet, your Wednesdays and Thursdays will never be the same. There are predictable story lines, but that does not mean we can't enjoy watching them. The funny, chaotic antics of Ji Hwan's team really makes you laugh, and in every episode there is something to chuckle about. Let's not forget the fluttery feeling every time our two leads are together. Just them looking at each other brings butterflies in my stomach, the good kind.

We need this break. And this rom-com, as they, is romcoming so hard it's difficult to turn away.

Sweet, funny, chaotic, mysterious - that's My Sweet Mobster in a nutshell.

Definitely a must-watch.
