People Are Actually Sending Money to the Bank Account Number Shown on Squid Game
During an interview with Squid Game Director Hwang Dong Yeok, he revealed something about the bank account number that was shown in one of the episodes on the hit Netflix drama, Squid game.
People were asking if the director used the account number for that ATM withdrawal scene without asking for permission. He explained,
The account number belongs to one of the producers on the show. We made an agreement with the directing team and used it.
The funny thing is, the producer is actually receiving deposits from people who watched the show. Money in the amount of 456 KRW or $0.38 have been deposited. He also stated that they decided to use the account number with permission, although they also decided to close the account in case problems may arise in the future.
As for the phone number used in the series, he explained,
We used that number because we were told it was a safe number to use but the producers didn't expect the number to work if you put in the 010 area code in front. We're very sorry we did not check that in detail. I know the production team is working to properly compensate that individual. We are going to take responsibility for it until the end.
